چکیده

A corrector is used to reduce or eliminate statistical weakness of a physical random number generator. A description of linear corrector generalizing post-processing described by M. Dichtl at FSE’07 [4] is introduced. A general formula for non linear corrector, determining the bias and the minimal entropy of the output of a function is given. Finally, a concrete and efficient construction of post-processing function, using resilient functions and cyclic codes, is proposed. keywords : bias, linear correcting codes, Fourier transform, resilient functions, entropy.

Bad and Good Ways of Post-processing Biased Physical Random Numbers

Algorithmic post-processing is used to overcome statistical deficiencies of physical random number generators. We show that the quasigroup based approach for post-processing random numbers described in [MGK05] is ineffective and very easy to attack. We also suggest new algorithms which extract considerably more entropy from their input than the known algorithms with an upper bound for the numbe...

High-Speed Magnetoresistive Random-Access Memory Random Number Generator Using Error-Correcting Code

A high-speed random number generator (RNG) circuit based on magnetoresistive random-access memory (MRAM) using an error-correcting code (ECC) post processing circuit is presented. ECC post processing increases the quality of randomness by increasing the entropy of random number. We experimentally show that a small error-correcting capability circuit is sufficient for this post processing. It is...

A High Speed, Post-Processing Free, Quantum Random Number Generator

A quantum random number generator QRNG based on gated single photon detection of an In– GaAs photodiode at gigahertz frequency is demonstrated. Owing to the extremely long coherence time of each photon, each photons’ wave function extends over many gating cycles of the photodiode. The collapse of the photon wave function on random gating cycles as well as photon random arrival time detection ev...

A Comparison of Post-Processing Techniques for Biased Random Number Generators

In this paper, we study and compare two popular methods for postprocessing random number generators: linear and Von Neumann compression. We show that linear compression can achieve much better throughput than Von Neumann compression, while achieving practically good level of security. We also introduce a concept known as the adversary bias which measures how accurately an adversary can guess th...

CPU Time Jitter Based Non-Physical True Random Number Generator

Today’s operating systems provide non-physical true random number generators which are based on hardware events. With the advent of virtualization and the ever growing need of more high-quality entropy, these random number generators reach their limits. Additional sources of entropy must be opened up. This document introduces an entropy source based on CPU execution time jitter. The design and ...
